Just Spill It...

shayna dragged her feet into Soup Junction and as usual, rest her arms in the counter where alyssa was trying to stack up the bowls properly. shayna just sighed really loudly, as though she purposely wanted her best friend to ask if something was wrong.
"ok just spill" alyssa said without looking away from her bowls. well, not the question and tone that shayna was looking for but it would do just fine.
"i think i'm gonna screw my test up."
"really? what happened to the 2nd class honors psychology student?"
"lys, it's different. this is child psychology. i kinda thrown back all the facts to the prof when i graduated."
"so now what?"
"so now, i need some encouragement from my best girlfriend?"
"no... you need colin."
"what! no i do not! you promised not to talk about him ever again." shayna growled, sounding very defensive.
"alright. alright. just study harder for the next test, you'd do just fine." alyssa replied.
just then shayna's phone rang. it was colby. he just invited her to his party at his father's country club tomorrow afternoon. shayna was hesitant to agree but she had to. colby pleaded for her to go. she then finally agreed and took down the details before hanging up.

"hmmm, a party at the Island Country Club?"
"yeah. colby's parents are throwing him some kinda party."
"cool. that means colin would be there."
"shut up. i'm going because colby wants me to. not because of... the other him."
"the other him? wow, what a way to describe colin." shayna scorned at her friend who backed away, with a grin opn her face. alyssa knew her good friend well. shayna liked the guy... it's just that she didn't want to be 'in the way'. it's just her way of forgetting everything and being the saintly one. maybe the party would change everything... just maybe.
