Lila, The New Nurse

"i don't want to see the doctor," colby whined.
"colby. be good. you know you have to get yourself checked up since you are doing sports in school and doing strenuous activities," colin explained.
"but they make me take injections and everything yucky," colby complained.
"go for your check up and you can see shayna jie there too. then we can go grab some ice cream after that. what do you think?"
"two ice creams!" colby bargained.
"alright two. but promise you'd be a good boy," colin bargained back. colby smirked and nodded.

"hi. we have an appointment with Dr. chong?" colin asked the reception. the new nurse at the hospital greeted him. she was under shayna's father. a smart but very shrewed new girl called Lila Cheng.
"i see. colby tan? is that you?" lila asked, her face tilted to a side, her eyes just gazed upon colin, that flirt look.
"oh no. it's not me. it's my brother... colby," colin said, carrying colby up to sit on the counter, "you must be new here. everyone kinda knows that colby comes in weekly."
"yeah i am. i'm lila, the new nurse here." she reached out her hand to shake colin's hand.
"nice to know you lila. is the doc ready to see us?" colin asked.
"yes, please follow me," lila said, leading colin and colby down the hallway. her colleagues just shook their heads. they knew this new nurse was in trouble...

when lila came back to the reception counter alone, she was all in smiles but her other nurses were just laughing at her.
"what's wrong?" lila asked, obviously very pissed at them laughing at her.
"you're messing with the wrong guy, lila," one of the nurses spoke out.
"what's wrong with him? he's so cute, handsome, great smile, very interesting... why can't i hit on him?" lila asked, as though flirting was alright during work.
"well, if you think so lila. but don't say we didn't warn you," the nurses laughed again.

half an hour later...

after colby finished with the doctor's he was sulking. the doctor had given him an injection and more medication to take. he was an unahppy boy.
"come on colby. it's just liquid. and it's not that pain," colin tried to consol him.
"kor! it's pain! you take it for me then!" colby whined.
colin sighed and carried the cry baby in his arms. sometimes he wished his brother would grow up faster and understand that sometimes the world doesn't really revolve around him all the time.

"we're here to fix the next appointment," colin said to lila. the nurses started to giggle again.
"hey how are you all doing?" colin said, waving to the other nurses. they just giggled back. but lila was just rolling her eyes at their childishness.
colby was just sulking at the corner until his eyes saw something that always never failed to make him smile.
"shayna jie!!" he screamed out. suddenly, his injection didn't mattered. he just ran and reached out to her for a hug.

"hey colby! i missed you," shayna said, hugging him so tight. meanwhile the nurses are just giggling even more.
"this is where the fun part starts. lila's gonna have a shock of her life," the nurses whispered to each other.
colin smiled and was relieved to see shayna taking over colby. colin was just about to have no more ideas on how to cure a sulking boy.

"hey you. i thought you were coming down in the afternoon. it's now five already," shayna said to colin as she placed colby down on the counter and chewing on the sweet that shayna gave to him.
"it's still the afternoon to me. wow. you look gorgeous. a princess indeed," colin said. lila rolled her eyes at their conversation, still oblivious to what was going on, thinking that shayna was just flirting with the handsome guy she had her eyes on too. the rest of the nurses just tried their best to stop laughing.
"aint i always a princess? where are you heading down to now?" shayna asked.
"ice cream shop!" colby shouted with glee.
"any chances of me going with you all?" shayna asked.
"you know you are always welcomed," colin smiled back at his precious girl.
"great, wait up while i change out of this. no princess goes out on ice cream treats. they get it sent to them," shayna joked.
"will wait up here," colin said.

while colin was waiting, lila went up to him to test the chances she's got.
"here you go, your receipt and your next appointment," she said.
"oh thank you lila. you're really nice," colin said. one point for lila she thought to herself.
"well, what's wrong with colby?" lila asked.
"oh he alright. just needs to make sure his illness is controlled and he doesn't get in fits and everything," colin explained.
"i see. my brother used to have this problem too but under good care like you are giving to colby, he's alright now," lila lied.
"i see. that's good to hear. though doctor lee told me colby's illness is very rare, it's good to know someone has personal experiences with it too," colin said, trying his best to phrase 'you're a liar' well enough.
before lila could redeem herself, shayna came out all nicely dressed in her ochre dress.

"all ready to go. are we?" shayna asked as colby ran to her for a hug.
"well, i've to go now," colin said to lila, "duty calls."
"what duty calls? don't malign me in front of the new nurse," shayna said, "sorry lila. colin just loves to make jokes, tho he's bad at it." colin laughed and took colby into his arms.
"see you all next week. thanks ladies," colin said, waving to the rest of the nurses then taking the hand of shayna into his free one. then the nurses started to tease them.
"wow... holding her hand in public now," one of the nurses said.
"kiss her colin. we know you're dating her," another nurse hollered from behind.
"you all! stop making fun of us. i'll tell my father," shayna said, blushing. colby was also laughing along with the nurses. then before anyone knew it, colin kisses shayna on the cheek, making her blush.
"bye everyone. see you tomorrow," shayna said, walking off with colin and colby, happy.

by now, lila got the joke. it was on her. and to think that shayna was her supervisor's daughter. she had just made the worst mistake.
"told you lila," the nurses teased.
"oh stop it," lila said, getting fustrated.
