Re-appearance of Megan...

"Not going out tonight with Colin?" Mrs. Fong asked.
"Please mom. Stop it. You have been teasing me about that since I brought him home," Shayna said, bringing the newspaper down from her face.
"You brought him home, girl?" Mr. Fong asked.
"Yes papa. Sorry I didn't tell you earlier. I thought mom might have said something about it," Shayna said.
"Oh yes she did. She said many things," Mr. Fong said, sipping on his evening cup of tea.
"Great. I just knew it," Shayna said, curling her legs into her body and hugging them.
"She said he was a very nice boy and that both of you look very compatible with each other," Mr. Fong said, "Not everything your mother say is bad, Shayna."
"Sorry. I was scared papa. You know it's my first time and I'm not young anymore. I'm nearly 25. You all can be sure I will make the best decisions for myself," Shayna explained.

"Yes we know but you still have us for advice. We're not here for nothing. As long as you are not married, we still have a say in your decisions," Mrs. Fong said.
"That is a good thing right? Anyway I have to tell you both that Colin and I have decided to take a break from our relationship," Shayna finally had the courage to bring the issue up.
"Why? Did both of you quarrel? Did you do something wrong? Or did he do something wrong to you?" Mrs. Fong asked, getting all worried.
"No mom. No one did anyone wrong. We just felt that we needed to know each other as friends first then from there develop feelings. Besides, I still have my career to think about. Don't think counselling is easy. Colin is also busy building a business for his father," Shayna said.
"That I know. His father's company has always been in the news these few days. Their stocks in the market have soared since they clinched a million dollar deal. This boy is a whiz in the business area," Mr. Fong said, pointing towards the news on television.

Shayna was glad that both her parents liked Colin. They continued their usual family night chit chat about other stuff like work, politics and education. Shayna loved her family. They were easy to talk to and loved her very much. She knew if she got married someday, she would miss them the most.

***

The next morning, Colin woke up and realised that he had been sleeping in front of the computer.
"God," he said, his neck is screaming in pain. Colin stood up and gave himself a massage as he walked into the bathroom. He looked really tired. His eyes said everything. The dark circles are forming around his eyes. Colin splashed water upon his face and tried to wash away all his tiredness.
"I need so get a break from work soon," he said to himself in the mirror as he brushed his teeth. All he wanted to do now was to talk to Shayna and listen to her voice. maybe it would perk him up.

he waitd for his coffee and bread to be ready and picked up his phone.
"Good morning. How are you? Colby will be choosing his school tomorrow. He wants you to go along." Colin typed on his phone to send to Shayna. Not long after as he was having his breakfast at home, his phone beeped with a message.
"I'm good. At work now. Busy day ahead. That is good for Colby but I have much to do at work. Sorry. Are you going to work soon? Have a good day too." She replied. Shayna's messages are always short but sweet to Colin's heart.
"Yes I am going to work soon. Will message you again later to be updated. Miss you," he typed back.
"I miss you too." She replied.

Colin smiled. Though he fell asleep in front of the computer, he was full of energy for work and for what life throws at him. He felt he could tackle anything right now. As he happily got into his car and drove out of the car park and out of the gates of his condominium, the world seem to be under his feet. Until he saw a familiar figure walking down his street. God. It was Megan!

Megan purposely chose this time to visit her new apartment because she knew Colin would normally go to work at this time of the day. She saw his car drive out of the condominium gates and knew her timing was just about perfect. She smiled and pretended to be just passing by and everything was a coincidence. Colin did stop his car right in front of her.

"Megan? What are you doing here?" Colin asked.
"I came to look at my new apartment. I just bought it yesterday. It's just here," she said, pointing to the condominium just opposite Colin's place.
"You bought an apartment? That is good. How have you been?"
"I'm good. Busy with work. I have to get going now. My agent is waiting for me,"Megan said, trying to sound busy and independent.
"Oh ok. Have a good day," Colin said before driving away. Megan smirked. She knew she got him where she wanted him.

Colin was confused. Megan was now living just across the street. It would be very weird. Maybe it would just be coincidence that she purchased a place just opposite his or was it all planned? Was Megan planning to get back with him? Colin couldn't bear to think of the possibility. Suddenly the world felt heavy around him. He wasn't on top of anything now. He just was in the middle. Very caught in the middle.
