Talk With Dad

colin took a look at his phone and sighed. no response from shayna at all. could she just be avoiding him? a knock on the door. must be megan trying to see if he's been seeing other women again. he didn't want to answer it but a man's voice boomed.
"son?" his father called as he entered the room.
"hey dad." colin said, placing his phone aside and arranging the documents on his table.
"are you busy?"
"not really. is there anything that you want me to do?"
"yes. have lunch with me. it's time i spend some quality time with my son." Mr. Tan suggested.
"yeah, that might be a good idea." colin said, amazed that his dad would suddenly want them to have a family time with him.

they wen to this porsh restaurant in the heart of the business district. just the two men of the family.
"so what's the occassion dad?"
"nothing. just wanted to find out if you are doing alright. i've not seen you at home at all. besides, colby misses you. i know how close the two of you are."
"i've just been busy that's all. business is well, as you can see from the annual reports. i'll take colby out sometime soon." colin said, as though he was on a routine ingterrogation by a superior.
"and what about that girl you brought to the party that time... what's her name again? something ..na.."
"it's shayna, dad."
"oh yes, is she your girlfriend?"
colin kept quiet. its already hard enough to explain to himself about shayna and his relationship and considering that he already has a girlfriend who is very possessive and depressed at this time. now he has to explain everything to his father. how perfect.

"well, i asked because your mother wanted to know more about her. you are not getting any younger colin. you should start thinking about marriage." his father commented.
"dad. please. not now. you know i don't like to talk about these things."
"yes. you are old enought to make your own decisions. your mother and i are just worried for you."
"yeah." colin replied, halfheartedly.
"i'm sure you are able to think for yourself now. go for what you want. don't let anything stop you. that's how a good mind should work."

colin heaved a sigh. maybe if he was more decisive, everything would turn out to be better.
now if only shayna would start talking to him again.
