A Week Later... & A Few More Days

Shayna was lying on her bed that Sunday morning not knowing what to do. she tossed and turned, smelling her sheets. they still faintly smelt of colin. she thought of the night where they talked, kissed and laughed on this same bed. as she closed her eyes, she can still feel him kissing her. god! she needed to wash these sheets today or she'll continue thinking about him. she immediately picked up the sheets and took it out of her bed. she changed it to her lilac flower printed sheets and brought the old sheets into the laundry room.

"wow. my daughter's doing laundry?" Mrs. Fong teased, "must be the new boy."
"stop it mom. you have been teasing me about him since the day he stepped into our house," shayna said, wanting to forget colin but his parents are not helping at all, "just stop it alright. me and him... we've taken a break from each other."
"what happened? did you all fight?" her mother asked, concerned.
"no mom. we just needed our own space," shayna said, stuffing the sheets into the washing machine and when it was almost full, she shoved it in more with her legs. her mother just shook her head and left shayna alone.

as the machine started to turn the sheets, shayna sat in front of it and sighed. her mind and heart was in a whirl, just like her sheets in the washer. she sure missed colin. every minute was agonising enough, not to mention a whole week. colin did call her everyday for a few minutes to find out how she was and sent her messages to keep her updated on what he was doing.

just then the phone rang. shayna jumped up, thinking it was colin. but it wasn't. it was alyssa.
"how are you doing this sunday?" alyssa asked.
"not good. i was just doing the wash befor eyou called," shayna replied.
"hey, tyler and i are gonna go on a picnic later in the afternoon. we were wondering if you'd like to come along?"
"how can i? it's your couple thing. i'd not become your gooseberry," shayna answered.
"what are you talking about girl? gooseberry? colin's coming along too, he's bringing his brother. tyler andi were thinking if you both still need to meet each other as friends. you can't keep avoiding him."
"who says i'm avoiding him?" shayna remarked.
"colin and tyler will drive over to your place at about noon. you mind preparing some food for the picnic? say like sandwiches and dessert?"
"alright. i'll see you later," alyssa said.

finally! a chance to spend some time with colin. shayna was just up and ready to go!

he threw the files with pictures on her table.
"nothing," he said.
"what do you mean nothing?"
"he was mostly alone either at home or at work. he just hangs out with a couple of guy friends. other than his colleagues at work, his secretary and his mother and his best friend's girlfriend, no other women was seen around him," he reported dutifully.
Zoe was amazed at colin. for the first time he was not on the rebound.

"so he's clean?" she asked again, still can't believe it.
"yeap. or do you still want me to follow him some more? i've been doing that for nearly a week or so," the private eye said.
"a week of no women. thank you. that will be enough. here's your pay," Zoe said, slapping him a cheque.

as the private eye walked away, zoe looked at the photos again. she was amazed! colin was indeed in them and he was not with women, holding their hands or anything! she was just very amazed. for once the flirt and rebounder is not on the prowl. maybe he's really changed for the better.

shayna waited for his car to arrive. she placed the sandwiches, cakes and pastries packed nicely in boxes on the floor. she was excited, like a little schoolgirl waiting to go to the prom with the boy she had a crush on for years. she smiled, for the first time this week. then she heard a familiar car horn. she watched on as a car rolled in in front of her. it was defintely colin's car. colby was waving frantically at the back seat. he was holding her football which she gave him. it was glad to finally see them both. the men of her lives, other than her father of course.

"hey, let me get those for you," colin said, picking up the food on shayna's side.
"thanks. i'm so glad to finally see you after a whole week," she said, her voice soften. colin looked up at her and almost wanted to kiss her but he knew it wasn't right.
"me too shayna. come on. let's get going. we're gonna be late and you should know how alyssa always wants us to be punctual," colin said. shayna laughed and got into the car.

"shayna jie! i'm happy to see you!" colby said, hugging her from the backseat.
"me too colby. you've grown so big!"
"yes! i'm gonna go to a real school soon! studying and playing soccer!" colby said, laughing.
"i'm so proud of you. just don't overexert yourself," shayna replied.
"are you gonna play soccer with me later when we go for the picnic? kor and i can play against you cos you're the professional," colby asked.
"sure. no problem. i'm going to win you," shayna teased. colby just continued laughing as colin shook his head while keeping his eyes on the road.

as colby toned down and stared out at the road, murmuring softly to himself, sometimes singing songs, shayna took some time to glance over at colin. she missed his smile and his strong facial features. but what she really missed was the touch of his skin and his kisses. she missed everything about him.

"why you looking at me like that?" colin asked.
"oh... nothing," shayna lied.
"come on. i know you. you have something to tell me," colin said. shayna hesistated for a while...
"yeah i have. i wanted to tell you that i missed you. a lot," she finally said.

they smiled at each other. not knowing how to respond. but they knew they craved for each other so badly.
