Make-up & Break-up

at the ice cream parlour, colby was happily gorging down ice cream while shayna and colin snuggled up on a sofa, his arm around her shoulder, sharing a latte together.
"my parents want you to come down for a dinner this weekend. i want them to get to know the special girl in my life," colin commented.
shayna was shocked. not that meeting his parents again was freaky but the fact that he was still with megan and he could forget that.
"colin. you know you have a girl at home waiting for you," shayna reminded him. colin just groaned.
"i know... i have been meaning to tell her," colin tried to find and excuse but that didn't work with shayna.
"you know how i feel now?" shayna asked him. colin just shrugged. "i feel like i am a third party in a perfectly normal relationship. a third party!"
colin's heart soften. he did avoid the problem of megan too long and it's hurting the both of them now.

"alright. i'll talk to her tonight. and then you are coming home with me," colin said. shayna forced a smile and replied, "talk to me when you are done talking with her."

colin got home that evening. he's been away from his apartment forever. everytime he stepped into this house, he's just trying to run away from just about everything. all he wanted to do was to get a shower, grab his files and hide in the safety of his study room to do his work.

but today he had to face his fears. he had to break up with megan. today or if not, shayna would be lost forever.

"you're home," megan said, the usual way she would say it.
"yeah. i'll just go grab a shower," colin replied then headed into the bedroom.
he needed some time to come up with his speech. the bathroom would do him some justice.

however it did not. it just made it even worse. megan was now seated on the bed and her expression was just well, all colin could do was turn away from her and headed to the laundry.

"what's wrong? you didn't come home yesterday. were you out with another girl?"
"megan. can you please stop trying to pry into my life?" colin growled.
"i should know cos i'm your girlfrend."
"maybe i don't want you as a girlfriend," there. colin said it. megan was just stunned.

it was silence for a while. colin just continued doing his laundry.
"you're kidding aren't you?" megan asked, trying her best to laugh.
"i'm not kidding, megan. it's over between us," colin said, trying to maintain his composure.
"why? is it becaeuse of another woman? why colin? i love you," megan pleaded.
"meg, don't make this harder as it is. you can stay here still but maybe you should move and stay with your sister. up to you," colin said.
"i want to be with you colin," megan said, running up to him and hugging him, crying.
"megan. please. it's really over. i need some time alone now. just tell me when you're moving out alright? take your time. meanwhile i might be spending some time at my parents if you're still here. so yeah... bye megan," colin said before hiding back in his study room.

mgan just sat in the living room and cried. she couldn't believe colin was doing this for real. she just kept crying and crying.

colin wondered if he had been mean to megan. but he knew he had to do it cos shayna and him were meant to be together. he had to say goodbye to his old flirty ways and become a mature 27-year-old man. he needed to have shayna in his life. he wouldn't know what he would do without her.

the sobbing just continued outside and he could not take it anymore. he hurriedly packed some clothes, his work and his necessities into a bag and walked out. he needed time away form megan now.

"where are you going?" megan called to him.
"just away. sorry megan. hope you'd leave soon," colin said before closing the door behind him.

"this was the best way out," colin comforted himself.

"what do you mean he said he doesn't want you as his girlfriend?" Zoe exclaimed, appalled by what her best friend just told her. megan just nodded in the midst of sobbing.
"what does he mean by that? he's such an ass! why did you get with him anyway?"
"cos you said he was a catch... and i thought he was being sincere to me when he broke up with his girlfriend for me..." megan said.
"so he played rebound again this time?"
"i don't know zoe. i asked him and he said he didn't have any girl with him now," megan said.
"and you believe him?" Zoe exclaimed, "how stupid can you get? he rebounded on you before and you are getting the rebound this time! he definetly has a girl!"

just then zoe's boyfriend, mark came into the house blasting "ex-girlfriend" by no doubt on his stereo. which didn't make the situation any better.
"mark! can you swtich off that damn thing?"
"sorry. anyway meg, forget that jerk. he doesn't deserve you," mark consoled her before heading into the toilet.
"oh meg, just stand tall ok? don't let a jerk bring you down," zoe said, "meanwhile i'll find out who's he been cheatin on you with."
