A Fresh Start?

afternoons were the busiest times at the office for colin. his staff usually are more perked up after they had their fill of food and drinks. that would mean that production rates and more meetings for him. after his own lunch, colin did feel a little better, knowing that his best friend was still going to support him even though he might have his own things to worry about. however, that didn't really solve the problem. it just soothes it a little.

maybe if i messaged shayna, something good might come out of it he thought to himself. but he had to wait until he had some time of his own before he could do that. his afternoon meeting times were so packed together that he would have to wait a damn long time before he could settle down in his office to message his beloved.

finally when he got a ten minute break before his next meeting with an important client, he scooted off into his office and sat down in his nice leather seat. everything was moving so fast in the exterior but in the inside of him, everything was rather stagnant. maybe shayna would shake things up a little bit for him, for the better that is.

colin picked up his mobile and went to the 'create message' section.
"hey. have you eaten lunch? anyway, shall i pick you at the hospital tomorrow to visit colby's future school together? he has an appointment at three for Dr. Chong." -sent-
he didn;t have to wait long for a reply. Shayna was always efficient with her messages.
"yes i did. with my colleagues. sorry but i have an appointment tomorrow evening but will still see you at the hospital. take care."

colin didn't know wether he should be happy or upset. he was sure happy that he was going to finally see her face tomorrow but not for a very long time. what appointment would be so big that she couldn't just postphone it and join him and colby?
stop being selfish colin. she has her own life. it's not as though she's your girlfriend, even though you want her to. colin said to himself.
the rest of the afternoon was quite ruined for colin...

however, shayna's afternoon was much better. after she messaged colin. she had to host yet another story telling session with the children. She was enjoying herself reading stories to the children. this time she wasn't decked out in princess costume but rather a lioness costume. she rented it from a friend who was a professional entertainer. she just wanted to put a smile on the children's faces when she read 'The Lion King' to them. she was almost finishing up with her story and games when Timothy stepped into the room to watch her do her thing.

"well, that's all i have for today. but next time what story would you all like to hear?" shayna asked the children.
"could we hear 'Beauty and the Beast'?" Nori, a child bounded by wheelchair asked as she raised up her hand.
"sure Nori. we'll all listen to 'Beauty and the Beast' next time. meanwhile, everyone have another cookie from the Pridelands and then go back to your wards," shayna instructed as the children were given their last cookie as they shuffled out of the room.

"that was a great story though i missed it," timothy said, "and you look dangerous in that outfit."
"well, i shall take that as a compliment," shayna said, smiling.
"is playing dress up part of your job scope?"
"not really but i just wanted to make the story come alive instead of just reading text and see pictures," shayna explained.
"you're a fine counsellor. i'm glad the hospital has someone like you to perk the children up," timothy said.
"and you're a fine doctor yourself. you're here to get them out of here to enjoy childhood like we did at college," shayna replied.

"yeah we did have a great time at college. i miss those times when we played soccer and studied together," timothy said.
shayna laughed, "oh timmy, we can always play soccer again soon. i'm getting good that that sport. besides, instead of studying together, we are coincidentally working together. isn't that better?"
timothy shook his head, "you would never cease to call me timmy after all these years."
"but of course. i like timmy more than Dr. Timothy Leong" shayna said, taking off her lioness headgear.
"and i like the lioness in you, Shay."
"thanks. i think i better head off to change up. you still having your shift?" she asked.
"yeah. it's been a hectic day for me."
"well, get used to it. you're a great doctor now," she said before walking off to change.
timothy watched as she left. her lioness tail swishing as she walked.
what a girl timothy thought to himself before walking off to do his duties.

megan shifted her stuff into her new apartment. she ordered a nice new bed, some new closets and electronic equiptment using her father's credit card. though she was working, she needed the extra assistance when it came to purchasing and decorating her first apartment of her own. she spent the whole day arranging stuff and ordering the deliverymen to assemble and arrange the furniture for her. the previous owner had left some furniture for her and that made her work a little easier.

She unpacked her clothes into her new closet and arranged her knick knacks in her house. table lamps, candlesticks, vases, soft toys, flowers and even cushions. she wanted this apartment to be perfect. maybe colin might even step foot into this apartment megan thought to herself. she smiled.

after a whole day of moving, she sat down on her balcony chair and gaze into the clubhouse where the pool and other facilities were. she watched the sunset and drank her glass of juice. finally she was living on her own. without Zoe to nag her and try to live life for her. Megan could also prove to Colin that she was independent, self-sufficient to survive comfortably. She wasn't a dependent girlfriend anymore. she wanted to be more like Shayna.

She was glad that Zoe found out that Colin didn't rebound on her. that proved to be a hope that Colin might not have gotten over her at all.
maybe he just needs time to be alone. after that we would be together again. she said to herself.
