And It Continues On...

after work, shayna packed up her bags and was ready to leave. her mother was cooking dinner tonight and she was suppose to wait for her father who was also finishing up his shift.

"hurry dad. i'm starving," shayna grumbled as she sat on his table.
"i'm trying to. just hang in there," Mr. Fong said, sorting out all the patients files.
he then turned to lila who was doing the night shift and said, "now remember, later when the night shift doctors come in, please remember to hand them the folders in order or they will get mixed up."
"yes i won't forget mr. fong. have a good dinner," lila said, trying to sound nice though she didn't really like him or his daughter.
"ok. i'll leave them up to you. come on shayna. let's go," mr. fong said, grabbing his bag.
"finally," shayna said, walking alongside her father.

as they were walking out of the hospital, a cool BMW stopped right beside them. Shayna looked in. it was Timmy, driving his own BMW! Timothy poked his head out at the passenger window and smiled at Shayna.
"hey need a ride? hi uncle, remember me?" Timothy asked.
"Dad. Remember Timmy at college who always comes around our place to study and have dinner?" Shayna said to her father who was very puzzled at this fine young man suddenly recognising him as Shayna's father.
"oh! young timothy! a doctor? here?" mr. fong said.
"yeah. come on in. i'll send you both to where ever you need to go," timothy said, opening the front door for Mr. Fong as Shayna took the backseat.

"i'm amazed. you've grown so big and successful too," mr. fong said, smiling at timothy.
"yeah uncle. it's been so long since we've met. i went to London after the army days. now back as a doctor. i'm glad to be working in the same hospital as you and Shayna," timothy said, peeking a look at Shayna at the back seat.
"how are your parents? are htey in London too?" mr. fong asked.
"yeah they are living there with my sister. she's still studying there. i came back alone."
"and you're living alone?" Shayna asked.
"uh huh. i'm currently staying at a hotel. looking for a good apartment," timothy replied.
"there is this apartment at our block that is for rent. just a level below ours. maybe you can consider," Mr. fong said.
"really? i will check it out later when i send you back," timothy said.
"i'll bring you then. since shayna is dying to have dinner instead," mr. fong teased.
"hey! i'll come along. i'm not that hungry," shayna said, smiling at both men.

as timothy drove on he wondered why was he feeling as though he was the luckiest chap alive at the moment. other than just working with Shayna, he was pally with her father and he had a chance of living directly below her family! that means more time with her and her family. timothy wouldn't want to ask for more.

"maybe you would like to join us for dinner too," mr. fong suggested, "i'm sure auntie cooked more than enough for the four of us."

timothy agreed. he beamed to himself. this was getting better by the minute

colin drove home alone. it was nearly nine at night cos he had to stay back and finish up some work. he parked his car at the same lot that he always does and headed up for his mailbox. it was all the same junk and bills that came during this time of the month. he flipped through the envelopes and walked up towards his lift lobby.

"hey colin," someone called. colin looked up. god! why her? why here?!
"hey megan," he finally said after a few minutes of silence.
"i have been waiting up for you. i thought you would be home by eight," she said.
"sorry i had some last minute work to complete. you know how it is at my father's company," colin said, shrugging his shoulders.
"well, i brought over some food that i prepared. i just finished moving everything into my new apartment and i had just a little bit of time to do dinner," megan said, handing him a bag of food, "sorry it's a little cold now cos you came back so late."
colin didn't know what to say. he had to be nice to her and took the food from her.
"thanks," he said, "but you shouldn't have gone to all that trouble. since we are not together anymore." he wanted to drive home that point so that she would get the idea he didn't really want ot see her around so often.

"well, we can always be friends right?" megan said, shuffling her feet and giving him the big puppy eyed look.
"yeah we are. i have to get back up to my apartment. i have an appointment later," colin lied. all he wanted to do was to go home eat, shower and sleep.
"with a girl?" megan asked.
"no. with a couple of guys from work," he replied, spitefully.
"oh alright. take care then. see you around," megan said, walking off. colin rolled his eyes. hopefully the last sentence would not ever come true.

colin finally reached home. he plunk the food into the microwave oven and then headed into his shower. he desperately needed rest.... and shayna's hugs and kisses. he thought of the times when they kissed in his car. her soft lips touching his and the way she smiled when he hugged her. nothing beats knowing that your loved one knows that she is being loved and cared for by you.
"shayna. i miss you terribly," colin whispered to himself.

he sat down to have a few bites off megan's dinner. it was alright. chicken with potatoes and a salad. typical megan-western dinner. it was nice though to finally have a homecooked meal. which reminded him that he had to go home for dinner sometime soon and tomorrow he had to pick colby up and shayna wasn't coming along as he wanted her to. colin placed his spoon down and looked around his empty home. if only shayna was around, she would be having dinner with him and her smile would light up his room. but she wasn't there... and she wasn't going to be anytime soon.

after dinner, Timothy stayed a while more with the Fongs to talk and recall those college days with Shayna. he almost forgotten how amiable Shayna's parents were and how they loved telling him their stories.
"dinner was wonderful auntie. i haven't had such a great dinner for a long time," timothy said, tapping on his stomach.
"oh please do come more often. you look much skinner since the last time i saw you," Mrs. Fong said.
"i will. if Shayna would want me around," he said, looking at her intently.
"well, it's all up to you. my parents seem to like you more now than they like me," shayna teased. Mr. Fong laughed and gave his daughter a ruffle of her hair. timothy looked at the time. it was nearly eleven. he had impose on them enough for the day.

"i think i better get back to the hotel to rest. sorry to impose on your family," timothy said, standing up and getting ready to leave.
"oh please. it's a pleasure having you around," Mrs. Fong said, placing an affectionate arm on his shoulder.
"yes, do come back often. maybe when you start to live just below us, you can come here every evening for dinner," Mr. Fong said.
"i will consider living there but imposing on you all everyday would not really be a good idea," timothy said shily, "but we'll see how it goes."
"have a good rest then. Shayna, do you want to send him downstairs?" Mr. Fong asked. Shayna nodded and slipped on some shoes.
"bye Auntie and Uncle," timothy said before disappearing into the lift with Shayna.

They looked at each other for a while and smiled. no words conversed.
"so..." Shayna said, trying to break the silence.
"so... it's been fun today. i enjoyed myself," timothy finished the sentence for her.
"i'm glad you did," she replied. she then remembered she wanted to ask him a question, "Timmy, are you attached?" those words blurted out of her mouth even before she could think.
timothy smiled at her and placed his arm around her shoulders. the lift came to a stop at the ground level. shayna smiled and moved his hand away from her shoulders.

"i'm not sure. that's why i asked," she said.
"well, i'm not. not until i get the girl that i want," timothy said, trying to be discreet.
"all the best to you then. thanks for sending us back today," Shayna said, "if you need help with the moving in i'll always be here to help."
"yeah i know who to call. thank you for letting me impose on your family tonight. it has really been great. would tomorrow's dinner still be on for the both of us?" timothy asked.
shayna looked into his deep-set eyes. there was no way she could refuse.
"yeah sure. i'll see you at work tomorrow. i'm on afternoon shift," she said.
"me too. need me to pick you up? i'll be moving my stuff here in the morning anyways."
"that would be nice too. thanks. i'll see you tomorrow," she turned her back to leave. when she was a good distance away, timothy grinned to himself and knew that he was on the right track to winning her heart.
